Rotted fascia is the #1 reason gutters fail. We assess, repair, and replace fascia boards so your gutter system actually holds — included free with every gutter estimate.
Fascia is the horizontal board that runs along the edge of your roof, just behind the gutters. Every hanger, every screw, every bracket goes into that board. When fascia rots, gutters lose their anchor.
They start pulling away from the roofline, pitching wrong, overflowing instead of draining. Water then accelerates the rot. It is a cycle that ends with foundation damage, mold, and a much bigger bill.
We inspect fascia on every estimate visit at no charge. If it needs work before gutters go in, we tell you and handle it ourselves.
Most homeowners do not know to check until gutters start pulling away. Here is what to look for from the ground.
Visible gap between the gutter back and roofline means the fascia has softened and can no longer hold mounting hardware.
Inspect ImmediatelyIf you can press a screwdriver into the board and it gives, the wood is actively rotting. No gutter hardware will hold in this.
Replacement NeededEarly sign of moisture intrusion. Caught here, it is a repair. Left alone, it becomes full replacement.
Repairable EarlyChronic overflow or water intrusion behind the gutter line. Internal rot likely even if the surface looks intact.
Assessment NeededIf gutters overflow when clear, they are likely pitched wrong because the fascia warped. Repitching requires repairing the fascia first.
Fix the FoundationRotting wood attracts termites and carpenter ants. Fascia is often the entry point when insects appear near the roofline.
Inspect NowA lot of gutter contractors will install gutters over rotted fascia because it is faster and they get paid either way. The gutters look fine for six months, then start pulling away, and the homeowner has no idea why.
We do not do that. Gunner inspects every fascia board before quoting. Minor repairs are done before we touch the gutters. Full replacement boards are cut, fitted, primed, and installed the same day as the gutter work.
One visit. One crew. One job done right.
All estimates free after on-site assessment.
